Introduction
The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Barbering is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills. This qualification covers:
The creative art of cutting men’s hair
The specialist work of cutting facial hair
Consultation service for clients
Health and safety whilst working in the barbering industry
You will develop your practical skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your own salon services
National Occupational Standards (NOS)
Units in this qualification have been mapped to the relevant NOS (where applicable). This qualification is regulated on the Regulated Qualifications Framework. This qualification is approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), the standard setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spa qualifications.
Prerequisites
To undertake this qualification, you must also achieve the VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (COVID-19) for Hairdressing and Barbering Services qualification. This is an online course with an exam and can be completed prior to starting.
Assessment
Throughout this qualification you will produce a portfolio of evidence. This will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt. Your work will be assessed, and quality assured by centre staff. An external quality assurer, appointed by VTCT, will visit our centre to sample and quality-check assessments, the internal quality assurance process and the evidence gathered.
Observation outcomes
For practical elements you will be observed by your assessor throughout each unit to show your competence.
Assignments
You will complete four assignments to show your knowledge.
Exams
You will complete four exams.
Course delivery
The course will be delivered in the evening on a weekly basis over 24 weeks 6.00pm-9.00pm.
We will also deliver a complimentary wet shave workshop alongside this course and a chance to shadow our barbers for work experience.

The course fee includes VTCT registration and fee for VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (COVID-19) for Hairdressing and Barbering Services qualification.
