Introduction
The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement qualification is a substantial practical based vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a vocational assessor. The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is a practical-based qualification intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment, and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (i.e. workshop, classroom or other training environment).

The principles and practices of assessment
Assessing learners occupational competence in the work place and assessing vocational skills
Knowledge and understanding of education and training
National Occupational Standards (NOS)
Units in this qualification have been mapped to the relevant NOS (where applicable). This qualification is regulated on the Regulated Qualifications Framework. This qualification is approved and supported by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), the sector-owned body for the learning and skills sector.
Prerequisites
This qualification is designed for learners aged 19 years and older
Entry onto this qualification will require you to have full competence in the vocational subject area that you will be assessing and you will need access to a cohort of learners, so that you can gather evidence of real assessments
Assessment
Throughout this qualification you will produce a portfolio of evidence. This will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt. Your work will be assessed, and quality assured by centre staff. An external quality assurer, appointed by VTCT, will visit our centre to sample and quality-check assessments, the internal quality assurance process and the evidence gathered.
Observation outcomes
You will be observed on three occasions by your assessor to show your competence.
Assignments
You will complete three assignments to show your knowledge.
